Idea Hub
November 4 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm

In the fall of 2017, the WCDC launched its grass-roots driven project, IDEA HUB, where local
residents and area stakeholders have been encouraged to become community leaders by pursuing and executing their own community-benefit “idea.” Since the IDEA HUB’s inception over a dozen ideas have been generated and pursued. A Graffiti Removal Task Force, Emerging Young Adults Workshops, an Ocean Friendly Garden Installation, a Tree Planting Project, a “Trashcan On Every Street Block” initiative, a Skatepark expansion effort, a local culturally and linguistically relevant mental health clinic campaign, and a seasonal event called TACO WEEK are some ideas that have come out of IDEA HUB and have been injected into the community either as a one-time project or a more enduring project. Through the help of the WCDC these new community leaders or “agents of positive change,” otherwise referred to as
“CHANGEMAKERS,” have been encouraged, empowered, and supported to pursue a goal that
serves the community’s residents and businesses.
